    Introduction
Vishal Devgan better known as Ajay Devgan was born on the 2nd of April 1967 to Action choreographer Veeru Devgan.

    School Of Rock
As a kid Ajay went to Silver Beach high school and further graduated from Mithibai College.

    Grand Entry
Ajay Devgan has very successfully carved a niche for himself in the industry and is looked at as a very intense actor who can do complete justice to the roles given to him. No one can ever forget his opening scene in his debut film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ in 1991 where he was standing tall on two motorcycles running parallel to one another. From there on his image as an action hero was established well and how!

    Last Action Hero
Ajay continued with his action image and went on to do films like 'Jigar' (1992), 'Divyashakti' (1993), 'Vijaypath' (1994) and 'Hulchul' (1995). Then just like a lot of actors would like to do he too wanted to try something different, something that was not like the usual action hero that he had been playing all along…

    Changing Lanes
He played a harrowed lover who reaches the mental asylum in ‘Dilwale’ in 1994 followed by Naajayaz in 1995 where he plays the role of an illegitimate son to a crook but he grows up to be a cop. Having shown his sensitivity as an actor by now he then decided to move ahead and give comedy a shot, this is when he and Aamir Khan co starred in Inder Kumar’s ‘Ishq’ in 1997. The film went on to be a big hit. The film was later followed by another huge hit that starred him with wife Kajol called ‘Pyar To Hona Hi Tha’. With this film he also became distributor as he personally designed the entire publicity and designs for this film.

    Rock Solid
His reputation as an actor who can deliver was getting stronger and stronger. And then he got one of the best roles he could have asked for. It was in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Zakhm’. The film was not a commercial runaway hit or even close but it catapulted Ajay’s career to newer heights. His caliber as an actor had gone up tenfold. His next film, which was also appreciated by the audiences, was ‘Kache Dhaage’.

    New Heights
The pinnacle of his career was without a doubt Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ in 1991. He essayed his role of a sorrowful husband reuniting his wife with her lover with immense exuberance. The film became a blockbuster skyrocketing Aishwarya Rai’s career as well. He also did films like Thakshak which somewhat like off beat cinema and that film was a complete disaster at the box office but nevertheless that didn’t make any difference to Ajay’s star status by then.

    Marital Bliss
Ajay Devgan and Kajol tied the knot on the 24th of February 1999 and then the couple moved into a new direction by entering production with Father Veeru Devgan’s ‘Hindustan Ki Kasam’ starring Ajay Devgan and Amitabh Bachchan as well. However the film didn’t do too much at the box-office. Their next film ‘Dil Kya Kare’ that starred Ajay and Kajol together with Mahima that was directed by Prakash Jha was also not a success and flopped at the box office. But that didn’t deter him from continuing with production plans as he went ahead to produce his costliest film ever ‘ Raju Chacha’ with Kajol starring opposite him that was directed by his cousin Anil Devgan. Alas that film also bombed at the box office.

    Director’s cut
But it’s a new ball game all together now for Ajay as he has now added yet another feather to his cap by turning director with his film U Me Aur Hum that has also been produced under his banner Devgan Films. The film stars Kajol playing the lead role opposite Ajay himself. It seems like this actor is definitely not going to stop just here as he has miles to go with the new hat of a director that he has now worn…
