Ajay Devgan has been a versatile actor all his life. He has done films of different genres and how. When quizzed on the thriller ‘Kaal’ this is what he had to say…
"Kaal" was a rather interesting concept, but it is nothing similar to "Bhoot".
We shot in the forests. Soham (Director) has done an excellent job. He knew exactly what he wanted from his actors. It doesn’t seem like this is his first film.
Kaal was produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar and had Ajay Devgan playing the role of a mysterious forest local that also starred John Abraham and Viveik Oberoi.
We had a lot of fun, Viveik, John and I, it was almost like a picnic. Viveik and I worked together earlier as well in Yuva but this was the first time John and I worked together..and we had a great time.
Why did you do a film like Blackmail?
There were a few films that I did for the sake of prior commitments or friendship, although I knew those films wouldn’t work I did them. Am glad they are done now. But sometimes it is upsetting when good films like Yuva don’t do well at the, but what can you say, you pick up the pieces and move on.

Ajay realizes that the best phase of his career was when he did films like ‘The legend of Bhagat Singh’.
Ajay loves the challenge of doing mixed roles. "I don't mind being a different kind of a hero. I've always attempted unconventional heroism. I think audiences are ready for a change."
That explains the different kinds of films that he does.
There was Prakash Jha's "Apharan", Raj Santoshi's "Samna", John Matthew's film with Shahid Kapoor which were all very diverse from one another.
Well and his latest film ‘U Me Aur Hum’ with wife Kajol is also very dissimilar from the usual run of the mill films…
